Amazing actors showing a sarcastic mirror to the Slovak provincial mentality!

Slovakia. What is our country like? What are typical Slovak men and women like? Is it safe around here? What’s the bureacratic situation like? Can we find justice? … How is life in Slovakia?

The original play of the entire ensemble of Theatre Astorka reacts to the current state of affairs in the Slovak society. It springs from real statistics, public opinion, news articles and the census. The state of our economy, political culture, ethics and the direction our society is taking made the creators show a sarcastic mirror to the Slovak identity. And also, sadly, to the unsatisfiable small-town mentality. Luckily, the most severe of problems are brought forth in a grotesque and tongue-in-cheek way by Astorka. The sequence of situations about our nation is funny, happy, sad, and bitter. Just like life itself.

Directed by Michal Vajdička, the Slovak reality will be shown by a platoon of comedic actors – Zuzana Kronerová, Zuzana Konečná, Rebeka Poláková, Anna Šišková, Boris Farkaš, Ady Hajdu, Róbert Jakab, Juraj Kemka, Marián Labuda ml., Lukáš Latinák, Marián Miezga and Tomáš Mrekaj (as guest).

We’re in for a treat… just watch out for holes!

A hole full of holes, directed by Michal Vajdička (2015) is a unique play. It is the first original play of Theatre Astorka, guesting at the Bozar in Brussels to huge success. The theatre, as well as the individual performers have received many awards, such as Dosky, Awards and prizes of Litfond, Awards of the Bratislava viewer or the Don Quijote Main Prize at the festival in Belgrade.
