GUnaGU (SK) – V. Klimáček: THE LOW-FAT LIFE
Theatre GUnaGU, if it needs an introduction, though, is a professional group of alternative kind, an iconic theatre for youth, which was founded in 1985 and till today it produced more than forty original author’s productions. A distinctive feature of theatre’s plays is their black and „cool” humour which greatly describes the value and emotional turmoil of the beginning of the third millennium.
The plot of one of the newest plays by Viliam Klimáček, artistic director, writer and playwright, THE LOW-FAT LIFE, is held in a reduction sanatorium with strict control of fats, glicydes and fatty acids. Three women meet there: Anita, editor in a publishing house, Ingrid, Member of Parliament, suffering from bulimia and mentally disturbed Krista. Three personal problems of three unhappy women become a statement about today’s Slovakia and especially about its “lowfat“ morality, feelings and beliefs. Most creators of this play, including the director, experienced the reduction of the weight by their own in a past, in present and undoubtedly in the future.
