Theatre GUnaGU (SK) REMIX – the BEST of1985 – 2014

The GunaGU theatre was established in 1985, originally as an amateur ensemble, which later became professional. Up to this day, the theatre introduced more then 50 auctorial titles. It is an alternative to professional theatre, one which has performed the longest time in Slovakia and became a cult theatre for more than one generation. This independent stage introduces exclusive new original plays of Slovak authors. It reflects on lives of people and problems of contemporary times and it writes the roles to the performers personally. In dramaturgy, GUnaGU works with both the method of ensemble production and the method of fixed improvisation. Thanks to these methods, cult classics such as the performance about East European mafia ENGLISH IS EASY, CSABA IS DEAD or clips from the world of model castings MODELS were created. The brunt of the theatre's performances are contemporary dramas written by V. Klimáček (for example COMICS, CHEKHOV-BOXER, ADDICTS, JOHN LENNON IS DEAD AND I AM ALSO NOT VERY WELL, MUTANTS,...). Its black humour captures confusion in values and emotions of people in the beginning of the third millenium. It has extra resonance mainly in front of young audiences!
