TEATRO MATITA (SI) – for children and adults

THEATRO MATITA was established in 2002 by Matija Solce (*1981), Slovenian musician, puppeteer, actor, director, lector of street workshops and graduate at the Departement of Alternative Theatre and Puppetry at the Prague theatre academy (DAMU). Also, he graduated at a traditional hand puppet school in Italy. In his work, Solce intensively links world music and puppet theatre. He is experimenting and exploring the potential of interaction with these genres. His concerts often turn into interactive theatre performances and his puppets often become musicians. This Slovene artist travels, directs and performs all around the world. In 2008, he achieved the most important slovenian award, the Golden Bird, in the category of visual art and in 2009, recieved a prestigious award for directing Kabaret Luknja. One of the world´s most respected puppeteers brings the best of the best from his production to Kremnica´s Gags. Not only for children!

PULCINELLA

A comical fairytale of traditional Italian figure of commedie dell´ arte – Pulcinella – for children over 5 years. Adventures of a clever servant, who knows no authority and no fear. A story about his meetings not only with a dog, but also with Death. Will the story end with a happily-ever-after? This performance, apart from other awards, recieved the award for Inventive Transformation of Tradition (at meeting of Slovenian puppeteers in 2003.)

ATTENTION, MOOSE!

In wilderness of cold Lapland, where one day lasts for half a year, a poor moose is trying to escape from a hunter and his hound. Two friends also live there – a hen and her old lady. Here, a rare story about mutual understanding between man and animal is enacted. It is about the cruelty of life, that someone can be born a hen, and another one as a hunter. Fairy tale for children over 7 years of age connects the accordion, the drum and the actor-musician's singing. Puppets are made out of objects of everyday use, such as wheels of a bike. The audience will surely enjoy music, entertainment and improvisation. Unique puppetry theatre, which inspires children's imagination and gives them an opportunity to create their own story.

HAPPY BONES

An ironic black comedy for older children (over 12 years of age) and for adults with great music! It surprises, cracks you up and entertains until spectators realise that they are an integral part of a big play! Death plays with a pile of bones from different parts of the world. Fortunanely, it is all in good fun! The lifeless bones are combined by the handy puppeteer to build figures with their own stories and emotions. Without words, these bone´s personas speak of their destinies and about their sadness in solitude. When they miracuosly come alive, as a giraffe or as a kissing fish, for example, they become happy again. Theatre of the object in this unrefined form presents endless possibilities for human fantasy!
