A captivating passion play based on a short story by Jorge Luis Borges is presented by Hungarian puppet theatre and directed Ondrej Spišák, with Andrej Kalinka being the author of music. The main protagonist in our story is Baltasar Espinosa, a good man, 33 years old, just like Jesus was. He goes on a journey around the country and reaches the City of Heaven. Against his will, he becomes a prophet. Meanwhile, during a carnival in the city, the river Salado overflows – and the wide fields turn into the sea. Some animals die in the process. And the people? See and learn for yourself from the story of Baltasar and Jesus. “Hear you deaf, and look you blind, that you may see!”

Mesebolt Puppet Theatre has been playing a dominant role in the cultural life of the town Szombathely since 1989. Itｴs great successes are respected by the audience and professional circles alike. The theatre attended several prestigious festivals, both in Hungary and abroad, and achieved highly regarded awards. Mesebolt is a theatre which respects, resuscitates and reinvigorates tradition and builds upon it and, at the same time, is trying to present itself as medium of modern puppet theatre.
