PAVOL PIVKO (SK) with monodrama DOUBLE BASS

The actor PAVOL PIVKO has attended Faculty of Dramatic Arts at Academy of Arts in Banská Bystrica during 2005 – 2010. Since December 2009 he is a member of Spišské divadlo. However, at Kremnica Gags he will introduce the monodrama which he produced himself as a dramaturge, set designer and director. It will be a play THE DOUBLE BASS by Patrick Süskind, a concert of tragicomic situations of an old man who contemplates about the meaning of life. He is obsessed with the idea of change, stuck in his small apartment where all decisions are up to him. Old military bed, a table, a chair, a hanger and a double bass. This is a scene where the double bass player is trying to react against his own inaction and stereotypes.

Patrick Süskind is a contemporary German writer and screenwriter, graduate of the conservatory and he studied medieval and contemporary history and literature in Germany and France. He started to write short proses and plays during his studies. P. Süskind became famous with his novel Perfume, The Story of a Murderer (1985). Monodrama The Double Bass (1981) starring with Pavol Pivko will show us if the double bass player manages to overcome the problems experienced by his lifestyle and how to deal with his own musical instrument and insignificance...
