Theatre COMMEDIA (SK): NOTES OF A RED ARMY OFFICER
A tragi-comedy about our current days. A funny and sad morphing of a manipulated person – a sidelined admirer of Stalin and later Hitler – into a self-confident careerist willing to do anything. What happens when you give a gun to a small child? For the first time, we will take a look at an officer of the unbeatable Red army from the other side. The plot unfolds in 1939 – 1945 in the eastern borderlands of former Poland, now a part of Ukraine, Belarus and Lithuania. The dramatisation of Vlado Benko, based on the motives of the novel by the renowned Polish author Sergiusz Piasecky of the same name is the first performance of this play in Slovakia (banned until 1989).
Theatre Commedia Poprad has been among the most successful amateur ensembles in Slovakia. They have performed in Monaco, Canada, Tunisia, Portugal, Denmark, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Serbia as well as Hungary. The trio Benko, Kubaň, Novák, supported by two ladies brings a story that still rings true today.
