Dramaturgy

The festival is characterized by a relatively diverse structure of the program, mostly by the so-called live, interpretation art. The dominant theme is the theater in its various forms - from drama to improvisation, from puppet to the street productions. Theater and cabaret performances are complemented by several musical genres and productions, especially by folk, swing, jazz and world music. Literature and journalism with a humorous spirit and character on the festival are personally represented not only by present authors but also by their performers. Likewise - "live" performance and the work of caricaturists and representatives of other genres are also presented in here.

The festival´s dramaturgy is based on the original plan because of which the festival was established: to gather attractive, mostly unconventional, remarkable and inspiring performances which include an excellent humor, satire or recession humour and cultivated entertainment once a year for three to four days at one particular place. Periodic meetings of creators, authors and fans of humor and satire of the various genres of art bring new impetus to the development and cooperation, mutual understanding, spiritual enrichment, cultural awareness and common human understanding.

Current dramaturgy is based on three pillars:

a/ international competitive parade of the latest artistic productions of various genres under the professional authority of the European festival of humour and satire´s Humour Academy;

b/ Presentation of special-themed composition programs focused on works of living or non-living personalities which include humor, satire or a recession humour;

c/ performing of extra successful and exceptional personalities and productions which have highly positive response of experts and domestic and foreign public audience.

Festival thrives to combine different types of art that would otherwise not meet. In this sense it is very interesting to see authors, performers, directors and dramaturges as they each other attend their performances, exhibitions and concerts, as they are being inspired, they meet and cooperate. This happens not only among domestic but increasingly also among foreign artists.

Whole Kremnica town is lively also thanks to the quantity of accompanying events which together with the spirit of the historic city form a unique atmosphere full of comfort, tolerance and human understanding. Sophisticated humor and kindly and good-humored satire open the
festival to thousands of visitors without distinction of race, sex, belief and nationality.
