THEATRE of J. Chalupka of Brezno (SK): BLACKSMITHS

The banned comedy about 3 blacksmiths who found themselves in a foreign forge during the war... now allowed!

The Serbian author Miloš Nikolič's play is a brilliant and poignantly written conversational comedy. Despite the unhappy fate of the characters, the play will not let you catch breath while laughing. It will take you to a blacksmith forge in Germany, where three blacksmiths meet, many years after the war: former soldiers - a German, a Serbian and a Russian, whose fates became intertwined during the war. Everyone has secured his descendants and the heir to "his" forge. This fact complicaes the notion whether a German is really German, a Russian is really Russian, and a Serbian is really Serbian. The strange question about "a pure race" and "a grand nation" become more and more pointless. Come support the amateur creators and enjoy their professional performances, played by the Obernauer brothers and Mrs. Vagaday, directed by Ľubomír Majera.
