Symbols

It is not easy at all to simply, clearly and wittily convey the symbology of Festival of humour and satire. Lots of non-professional fans, students of Stredná umelecko-priemyselná škola in Kremnica and skilled artists and carucaturists from all around Slovakia have been trying hard for more than 25 years to manage it. Probably the most famous ”logo” of the festival was little figure – Smieško (Little Giggler) which was used during many years (the original name of the event).

Its author was Vladimír Halaj who created it in 1982 during his praxis as a student at Kremnica´s artistic schol. He made a draft of its design and State mint in Kremnica produced the patinated badges. Festival´s ”smile” was smiling at visitors of the festival also from the bulletins, posters and plaquettes for many years. The organizers of the festival started to focus on systematic and complex visualization only in 2004-2005. From the creation and building of the brand to systematic and goalseeking advertising campaign.
