Slovak film, theatre and television actor, passionate fisherman. The representative of the main role of Tóno Brtko in the Oscar-winning film Obchod na korze (The Shop on the promenade), of the legendary Kubo (Jimmy), Martin Pichanda in Tisícročná včela (Thousand Years Old Bee) or Pacho, hybský zbojník (Pacho, the outlaw of Hybe). Jozef Kroner was born in Staškov near Čadca. As he was young, in addition to work in the machinery he has performed in various amateur ensembles. Later, thanks to strong acting talent, even without academic study of acting, he got an engagement at professional stage in Martin. In 1956 he became a member of drama ensemble of the Slovak National Theatre, where he worked until 1984, when he retired. He played the characters of typical Slovak traits, but his talent is fully developed at impersonating of different characters, especially older heroes and tragicomic characters. He has appeared in numerous television films and series – Kubo (Jimmy) (1965), Živý bič (Living Whip) (1966), Rysavá jalovica (Rufous Heifer) (1970), Ruže a sneh (Roses and Snow), Slovácko sa nesúdi (Slovakia does not judge) (1978, 1984), Sváko Ragan (Uncle Ragan) (1975), Nech žije deduško (Long live the granddad) (1978). The controversial major role in the movie of Ján Kadár and Elmar Klos Obchod na korze (The Shop on the promenade) (1965) brought him a world recognition. He is also the author of several books, especially on fisheries: Herec na udici (Actor on fishhook) (1970), Herec nielen na udici (Actor not only on fishhook) (1974), S kamerou a udicou (With a camera and fishhook) (1979), Neobyčajný testament (Exceptional testament) (1982) and O rybke Beličke (The fish Bleakie) (1983). Based on vote of Slovak film journalists in Public Inquiry 2000 Jozef Kroner turned to be the Slovak actor of 20th century.

Participant of international exhibitions FIDEM throughout Europe and number of joint exhibitions in Bohemia and Slovakia. Laureate of the coin design winning award in Japan 2011. The author of the commemorative € 2 coin on the occasion of 10th anniversary of Slovak republic’s accession to the European Union (2013). She currently lives and works in Kremnica.
