JÚLIUS SATINSKÝ (2004)

Novelist, playwright, columnist, humorist, author of books for children. Born in Bratislava, to which he always had a fervent relationship. He studied pedagogy at secondary pedagogical school and dramaturgy at the Academy of Performing Arts. During his studies he performed in the author's dialogues with Milan Lasica in Bratislava Tatra cabaret revue. Between 1964 – 1967 he worked as an editor in the Czechoslovak Television in Bratislava and at the end of the sixties in the Theatre on Promenade. In seventies, when state power rendered impossible to the pair Lasica & Satinský to act with their own programs in Slovakia (and later also in Bohemia – Theatre Večerní Brno), they performed in singspiel of Nová Scéna in Bratislava – since 1978 also in the drama. Since 1982 Július Satinský worked in a newly created studio S (now Studio L + S). Together with Milan Lasica they became the founders of modern Slovak humour, which broke with entertainment of folk storytelling. Their author's creation presents a way of an intellectual satirical way of looking at the world. The most popular television program was their cabaret Someone’s at the door. Publishing house L. C. A. published three-volume Complete work of L + S in the years 1996 - 1998 and the feuilleton book Three hundred thunder in 1999. His best known book dedicated to children is particularly Tales of Uncle Sausage. He is also the author of several books on the topic of reminiscences to Bratislava.
