ĽUDOVÍT TATRAN (2010)
* 24th December 1926, Brezno
† 26th January 1992, Kremnica
Ľudo Tatran was born in Brezno at Christmas Eve. Perhaps that is why Fates gave him so much generosity. He lived in Kremnica since his eighteen, for twenty-five years he was working in the State Mint. He embeded his love for humour and satire into many works that could be read in comic periodicals and heard on the radio – Sobotník (Saturday’s) in Banská Bystrica, Maratón (Marathon) in Košice... etc. What has this man from Kremnica to do with KREMNICA GAGS? Well, maybe everything connected with their promotion. “Ludo was the golden heart of the festival, he was its mascot. Amazingly hardworking, enthusiastic for the idea, loving humour. He was a fan of all those who in times of totality were not afraid to express in the language of satires, what others considered taboo.” And he often emphasized: “The truth can be said in many ways. If you believe that you are right, never be afraid to put it into the light!” He edited the festival newspaper Gagáčik and nonstop led the Festival Press Centre at KREMNICA (at that time SLOVAK) GAGS. “I would like to see all the performances, it must be awesome because the atmosphere seeps into the office where I sit and write.” Now the former mascot of the Gags may watch, enjoy and frown from the special lodge in The Alley Of Famous Noses and together with others broadcasts signals of nonverbal communication. We will certainly understand it.
