Marián Kochanský

MARIÁN KOCHANSKÝ (2006)
* 4th June 1955, Partizánske
† 28th April 2006, Bratislava
Musician, composer and singer – leader of the group LOJZO. He graduated from the University of Economics in Bratislava. He worked in state enterprise Zdroj, later he was a head of Senior Retirement Home and organizational power of cultural institutions in Petržalka. At early eighties (1982 - 1983), he founded the group LOJZO which was an acronym for Ľudový orchester jednoduchej zábavy obyvateľstva (Folk orchestra of population’s simple entertainment). The band released a debut album called Lojzo in 1985, with which they became well-known and especially later with popular songs On the central marketplace, Chemistry teacher, We are not Italians, Annie you’re expensive like Volvo or Vincentka van Gogh. M. Kochanský was the author of texts, as well as the author of the music. In an accompanying text on the original packaging of vinyl LP there is an advice to listen to these songs in sweatpants. This sentence has also characterised Kochanský as an unalterable author and artist. In 1987, the band released a second album My nič, my muzikanti (We nothing, we musicians), where hits like Povolíme skrutku (We’ll loose the screw), Na nohu jej stúpil (He stepped on her foot) or Pridružená výroba (Associated production) appeared. All texts and most songs as well as the music were again the work of Marián Kochanský – such as the third album Ticho po plešine (Silence on the bald head), which appeared in 1989. There are songs Zipsy woman (Zippers woman), Hurá na paprike (Hooray on peppers) and Schöne Náci. In 1991 the band released the album Lojzo IV with songs Ja som dnes chorý (I'm sick today) and extraordinarily also with a serious hit Každý deň budú vraj Vianoce (Every day it will be Christmas they said), which was recorded with Miro Žbirka. M. Kochanský had enough musical ideas. Therefore, in 1996 they issued the next album, named Laz Vegaz with songs like Štronzo or Laz Vegaz. In 1998 they released their double compilation named Lojzo Komplet on which there were the songs from the first four albums, and in 2005 a compilation Lojzo Gold, on which there is not the romantic hit That I am sorry – shared track with a group Elán, missing. Kochanský’s style of music was known from the first tone. Could not be commuted, could not be confused with anyone. Similarly as the home clothing of the entire band – ordinary sweatpants with berets. Marián Kochanský performed along with the band LOJZO on KREMNICA (at that time SLOVAK) GAGS for the first time in 1983. They were the discovery of the festival, which they later visited very often – they have become darlings of the festival audience. The band worked well and often with Kremnica Theatre Under Ground. In 2004, M. Kochanský turned to be the member of the Academy of humour.
