Marián Zednikovič came from a family of the legendary puppeteer Ján Stražan. After graduating at the University of Performing Arts in 1974, he started acting with the whole class in Theatre for children and youth, Trnava, since 1980 he worked in theatre Nová scéna in Bratislava. Under the influence of Vladimir Strnisko and Milan Lasica his performing skills received the size of large dramatic characters (Glumov, La Roche, Jasha, Tartuffe). Nine years later he was awarded Best Actor of the Year in Ostrovský's play Aj múdry schybí (The clever makes mistakes, too). In 1990 he co-founded the theatre Astorka Korzo 90, where he performed until his last years of life. He was also the artistic director there. For the character of Vojnický in Chekhov's play Ujo Váňa (Uncle Vanya) he received the price DOSKY (Plates) in 1996, for the character of Anton Brtko in the drama Obchod na korze (Shop on the promenade) in 2000 the yearly award of the Literary Fund. With the actor Stano Dančiak they rehearsed a radio sketch Lord Norton a sluha James (Lord Norton and servant James) and with the eponymous performance they travelled throughout Slovakia, they were also in Australia, Mexiko and Sweden. Since 2001 he was the manager and producer of Summer Shakespeare feast in Bratislava. In 2005, he also involved Bolek Polívka into this event, with whom they played in the Kupec benátsky (The Merchant of Venice) production. He substantiated dozens of characters, especially in children's programmes in the Slovak television. He successfully dubbed Včielka Maja (The Bee Maya) animated series. He became the darling of children, at the same time he was elected as the king of children. He starred in several television series, several Slovak films and Czech comedies. He was convinced that everything can be achieved without screech and intrigue. He never pushed himself by force. He gained authority by his creativity, ideas and fantastical improvisation skills.

He is devoted to intimate sculpture and restoration, during 2002 – 2010 he cooperated with the studio Tri kamene (Three stones). He currently lives and works in Kremnica and in Bratislava.
